“Members provide the expert support that the Board and staff team
need to sustain the positive influence of CRI upon service provision and
upon the lives of the many people who use our services.”
Sir Peter Woodhead, Chair of the Board of Trustees
The role of ‘member’ may be of interest to professionals who would like to use their expertise to support our work but do not have time to participate as Board members (trustees). Members are expected to have the competence to advise staff and the Board about various aspects of our work, whilst safeguarding the governance of the charity. Members are also expected to champion and help promote CRI by attending events.
Members have a crucial role at the annual general meeting where their presence is required to vote on matters arising in connection with Board appointments and Board performance.
The role is unpaid but members can reclaim reasonable travel expenses when on CRI business.
How much time is required?
Members will be invited to attend an annual open Board meeting. Members will also be required, from time to time, to attend meetings, staff seminars, project launches and other promotional events.
How are members chosen?
Members must have relevant experience in the current areas of CRI’s activity, and an understanding of the needs of service users and the differing geographical areas in which we work. We operate an equal opportunities policy and seek to appoint members who reflect the diversity of our service user group.
